Barking Up The Wrong Image?
June 7th, 2007 | Add a Comment
A patron of the Willow Creek health club in Rosemont, IL, recently looked at the peeling bark on a tree out front and saw the image of Jesus Christ. Once word went around, people started saying it looked more like the late mayor, Donald Stephens, who died in April and had spared the tree years ago when some people wanted it cut down to make way for the health club. Bradley Stephens, who was named mayor after his father died, thinks it looks like his Dad. The health club’s membership director thinks it looks like The Son. Either way, people are flocking to it and lighting candles. It never hurts to be safe.

Olive Virgin Mary

Three months ago, Georgette Elhakin of Glenroy, Australia, noticed something on the bark of her olive tree. She thought it looked like a statue of the Madonna. Since then “miracles” have been happening. First a lump on her inner thigh disappeared. Then Centrelink, a government agency that offers community services, wrote saying they owed her money instead of her owing them. Her husband doesn’t believe the figure on the tree is an image of the Madonna. Then again, he still has chronic asthma and can’t work.

Is His Bark Worse Than His Bite?

It started last Monday when Jim Holtz was on the way to a pawn shop. He looked across the street at the Hickey-Freeman Co. clothing factory and saw the image of Jesus on a silver maple tree. Now people are flocking to Rochester, NY, to check out the arboreal sighting. Many claim to see facial features, including the beard. One man says, “He looks like he’s sleeping.” Shhhh!

Barking Up A Religious Tree
July 9th, 2005 | 2 Comments
People in East Chicago, Indiana, have been flocking to see two trees, one which they say has an image of Jesus holding his hands together and looking down [see photo on left], while the tree next to it shows the Virgin Mary looking over at her son. The tree on the other side has plain bark. How boring.
Postscript: City officials have turned off the streetlight that’s critical to seeing the image because residents complained about the traffic jam. And the large fight that broke out on Friday night.
