Stone-faced

A rock-cutter from Mitchell, Oregon, sliced through some agate he found near an Indian burial ground and discovered what he says “looks to be an Angel or perhaps Jesus, Mother Mary, I don’t know. But if you look close it’s standing behind a throne that overlooks what appears to be a planet.” Of course it’s for sale on eBay, where he says, “I have seen faces on rocks before, but NEVER the whole picture with other devine (sic) objects, except for ‘The Comforter,’ which I also have listed.” Of course.

Virgin Doorway

A door from the home of Roger Culver, Flatrock, Michigan, was burned two different times. The result is what he believes to be a scorched image the Blessed Virgin Mary. And a moneymaker on eBay. As a door it’s expensive. As a previously unknown copy of Munch’s The Scream, it’s a steal.

The other refused to be painted over and they realized it looks like Jesus. The real mystery is why they were painting their kitchen red.

Another Shell Game

A woman in Winston-Salem, NC has a seashell she says has an image of Jesus on it. So of course she’s selling it on eBay. Actually she’s selling “a small wooden curio cabinet approximately 7” x 10” x 2” filled with various types of beans and a simple sea shell in the middle.” In case you’re not certain why a Jesus seashell is better than a grilled cheese sandwich, she explains: “Please note this item is not grilled cheese, it won’t rot, decompose or shrivel up and wither away; it is an actual sea shell you will be able to cherish forever.” As DeBeers used to say, “Seashells are forever.”

(S)he Appears On Seashells By The Seashore

It might sound fishy, but a California man is selling a seashell with an image of the Virgin Mary on eBay, of all places. Or maybe it’s Jesus. The shell’s owner, David Johnson, isn’t sure. Neither is Father Hanna Sakkab of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in City Heights who, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune, thought “it evoked either Jesus Christ or the Virgin Mary, crowned with a halo and carrying a baby.” Johnson found it on a beach in Monterey, CA and held onto it for a year. It would look great on a puka shell necklace.

The Lord Is My Sous Chef

A family in Salt Lake City, UT says their old kitchen cabinet has an image of Jesus on it. They discovered it a few years ago and saved it after a recent kitchen remodeling. In case you don’t see it, Barbara Rascon explains: “There is an eye here another eye here and here is the nose. And then the mouth starts here and then you have sort of a beard.” Sort of cool.
